On the Pale Moon Light
(Dec. 7, 1908)

When the summer nights are growing bright and moony,
you feel as happy as a meadow lark.
You take your little girl, the one and only,
to loiter in the shadows of the park.

When you pause to steal a kiss beneath the maples
no doubt you'll tell the story old and true.
While the moon shines overhead
there is nothing left unsaid as you bill and coo.

Chorus
When the moon is shining brightly you have many things to say.
You take your little gialie and you wonder far away.
Gee! It makes you feel so happy your future is so bright
as you hold her hand and kiss her in the pale moon light.

When the winter comes with all its cold and bluster,
there are some things you never can forget.
You think of how beneath the moony luster
you said the word you never will regret.

And no matter how the years may fly a bout you,
you never will outgrow a chance to spoon.
It will always seem quite new
as you slyly bill and coo 'neath the rising moon.
