Edson Lee (1884-1944)
Cambridge Author Dies in Rockford
EDWARD
EDSON LEE, 60, author of stories
for boys, who has lived on the shores of Lake Ripley for a quarter
of a century, died Wednesday night at the home of his son, Eugene,
1420 N. Day Ave., Rockford, Ill. Funeral services will be Saturday
at Beloit at 2 p.m.
Author
Lee, a beloved resident of this community where he was well known,
wrote under the pen name of Leo Edwards. Chief among his works were
series of boy stories in cluding, "Jerry Todd," "Poppy
Ott," "Andy Blake," "Trigger Berg" and
"Toughy Bean."
He
was born at Meridan, Ill., and married Gladys Evaline Tuttle, divorced,
who now is living in Beloit. He started his writing career in 1921
and many a lad from Cambridge gave him the inspiration for his stores.
He
was a mason. The son, Eugene Lee, is expected in Cambridge Saturday.
